The Enforcement Agents ensure the lawful compliance of the approximately 12,000 alcohol and 7,000 tobacco outlets situated in Louisiana.Cops In ShopsThe Cops in Shops program is geared toward complaint investigation, enforcement operations, festivals and compliance checks.Project FOCUSFighting Off-Campus Underage Sales targets 10 university centered areas around Louisiana. It utilizes a threefold strategy of enforcement, education, and public awareness to reduce the underage drinking problem. Elements include more compliance checks of alcohol retailers, expanded agent presence at community events and distribution of alcohol awareness literature.Compliance ChecksCompliance checks are unannounced visits to establishments by two undercover agents and a trained, underaged operative. The operative will enter the establishment and attempt an illegal purchase to determine compliance with alcohol and tobacco laws.Agent PresenceATC strives to maintain a visible presence at retailers through inspections and observations. During inspections, agents present themselves in uniform to complete a checklist of qualifications of the licensed establishment.
